Next Boulders, Smoky Mountain
This area, in the south eastern corner of Utah, holds a special appeal for me. It is very remote and the barren landscape feels like you are on the moon. I loved the neutral gray color of the hills in the background and how they accentuated the colors of the rocks.
Next Desert Grass Abstract
I was photographing in Snow Canyon in southern Utah and I just wasn’t feeling like I was seeing well. I kept getting distracted and couldn’t focus my mind. So I told myself “Don’t take another step. Make a photograph right here.” I looked down and saw this abstract composition.

This image was taken on the “Weeping Rock” trail in Zion National Park. I sometimes find more interesting things to photograph on my way to, or returning from, the more “popular” destinations. That was certainly the case here.

Traveling in Zion National Park before dawn, I discovered this rock in a pool of water with the golden glow of sunrise hitting the top of the opposite canyon wall reflected in the water.
